The 22-year-old student of Maharashtra Institute of Medical Education & Research (MIMER) whose body was found attired in women’s clothes in Talegaon Dabhade on Tuesday was an addict, the Talegaon Dabhade police said on Wednesday.
Abhishek Panda used to mix whitener and diluter in a plastic bag, cover his face with it and inhale the fumes, police inspector Sanjay Nikam said. “We have seized the plastic bag and a few empty bottles of whitener and diluter from his room,” he added.
Addiction and crossdressing
Nikam said they have identified the shop from where Abhishek used to buy these bottles. Investigations revealed that Abhishek had been using this mixture for the past seven months. “He used to inhale the solution fumes despite the warning on the bottles,” he said.
It is being speculated that the intoxicated student would then resort to crossdressing. “We have seized a blouse and a sari from his room. But the reason behind his cross dressing habit has not been ascertained,” Nikam said.
He added that Abhishek’s viscera has been preserved for chemical analysis to ascertain the cause of his death.

Though Abhishek hails from Bhubaneshwar, his father works in Mumbai. Nikam said Abhishek was a “normal student and a normal child to his parents”.
Dr Anil Awachat, director, Muktangan Rehabilitation Centre, said, “Addiction to whitener and diluter fumes can kill. Drug abuse has become a trend among youth, especially when they face peer pressure. Even family problems and emotional nature can make them vulnerable to drug addiction.”
Executive medical director of MIMER, Dr Virendra Ghaisas, who told Mirror, “Abhishek was a happy person. We are all shocked by his death. Even his roommate had no clue about this incident.”
Dr Ghaisas said Abhishek was an average student. “Prima facie, it seems that he died due to intoxication. The post-mortem was conducted on Wednesday afternoon, and the report will come after two-three days,” he said.

Friends talk about Abhishek
None of Abhishek’s friends were ready to come on record. One of them said, “Abhishek was very outgoing. He consumed alcohol often and used to be on a high several times in a week.
After this incident, I came to know that he used to sniff whitener at least six to seven times in a day and always suffered from hallucinations.”
Another friend said Abhishek would lock himself up in his room and stay alone. He never had any close friends, but liked talking to everybody.
His friends suspected that he might be suffering from a psychological disorder, but never realised that it would lead to his death. His death remains a mystery for his friends, especially the crossdressing part.
Another friend, who claims to have known him for two years, said, “His attendance was very low. But whenever he used to be in college, he would be very cool-headed. He would never get worried even though he could not clear his first year in MBBS.”
This is a wrong opinion because Talent and good Voice does not depends or comes from a particular religion or country...
Talent is one that is gods gift.
and Atif have one of most nice voice in Singing...
we cannot oppose anyone in base of religion or by a country from which he comes...
A voting can be done...
I gaurantee more than 70% teens and peoples will dis agree with above protest done by VH P.

The writer seems do not have even basic knowledge of even which organization started first that are mentioned in this articles. This itself shows whether we can believe this article. I request the author to correct his basics first.
What is the need to organize events of Pakistani singer when relations are not good. It is ideal that sports culture etc. is not politicized and both get promoted everywhere, but you cannot clap with one hand, when other country is hell bent to promote terrorism, circulate fake currency notes, and destroy India then we should not be fool.
the criminals are walking the street and hurting the innocents. The law is very weak, non responsive. Punish the criminals, hang few and send a mesg to the rest. Murderers, rapists, kidnappers and corrupt political goons have taken over the country. No hope what so ever. Pray the girl gets well soon.
I second the opinion expressed by the other comment. If you would have printed photograph of the Mr. Salim (Auto Driver) It would be his medal for honesty and lot of encouraging for others in the same profession.
New Ranip ward is likely to receive Rs 4.96 crore for resurfacing and installing drainage pipelines.Till today nothing is been done. Where is the money gone. Driving on the roads is like taking a roller costar ride. What corporaters are doing i dont know.I can only able to see there faces at the time of election only.
I really appreciate the honest gesture shown by the auto rickshaw driver Mr. Salim Usman Mohammed who came all the way from Kubernagar to Thaltej to return the costlier mobile phone.
In this regard to encourage such more events you should have published the PHOTOGRAPH of Mr. Salim Usman Mohammed other than of MBBS Student. I feel it would be a life time achievement award for him and that would have made him feel more proud as if he had achieved a “Honesty Reward” from Ahmedabad Mirror.

media should cross check and verify facts whether maya kodnani is suffering from any sickness or just playing drama to enjoy life in hospital so that she can meet her family members , all criminals are enjoying their life in hospitals now a days....
Its sad to see something like this happening to someone.
But I would like to say that its very easy to blame the authorities for anything and everything. Yes, she fell because of the pothole which the authorities should've repaired. But did she get the stitches because of that? Not at all. Why wasn't Ms. Prachi wearing a helmet? Had she been wearing one she would've gone away with a few bruises.
When citizens themselves are not bothered about their own life and safety the authorities have no role in that. A good helmet costs around Rs. 1,000.00. Is it worth spending that amount, it sure as hell is.
My opinion is that we should stop blaming the authorities about everything and take responsibilities for our own mis-conduct.
My mother who just arrrived in India has been subjected to very rude behaviour. From customs. Demanding money. She ended up paying .these sort of behaviour. Is criminal. The government. Should do something a out it.
The sports sir certainly has some mental problem, before doing anything, pl get him going to a doctor. They have problems with their family, for which they cannot do anything, so they come to college and try to remove all their remorse on us the student???? Were does their so called Seniority go away??????
